Unique Selling Propositions can help you rank on search engines
Each single day there are billions of searches made on Google. Some are informative, while others are done with an intent to buy. But out of all those searches, very few people actually move to the second page of results, not to mention the third and so on.
This means that if you’re not on the first page of Google, ranking with something that’s important for your affiliate marketing business then you don’t exist. This is why you should struggle and optimize everything to make sure that you reach the first page and stay there.
Not just huge brands make it to the top and Google doesn’t care who you are as long as your page meets the expectations of the users and help them satisfy a need.
Google takes into account hundreds of things when deciding which websites should show up first, but unfortunately no one knows what all of them are and which ones are the most important. From site speed to links that go to your page from other websites, we know some of them, but the one which is the most important seems to be user satisfaction.
If people like your website so will Google. But why should your site rank higher, why are you better for users than the other websites in your niche?
How to set yourself apart from other marketers
This is a really hard question and when you are in the affiliate marketing business chances are that it’s quite hard to set yourself apart. It would be hard to change your whole business plan and find something to build on that sets you apart. But the one thing you can focus on to take your SEO to the very next level is the Unique Selling Proposition. Using a USP on every single landing page is a very important step.
Finding out what your USP can be is tough but the more you know about the business or products the easier it gets. Then you need to keep in contact with your users and customers and see what they like and want so that you can reflect this in your product, services, websites, everything.
Most companies that make it to the top have more than one clear Unique Selling Proposition. If you do them well you can become very well known for those things and in time get brand recognition as well as become the best in your niche. The first impression people get when they see your landing pages is crucial. If your snippets, titles, and descriptions are bad or nonexistent then you will have less visibility. Each landing page, which means basically every page of your website, should be optimized and have a clear USP.
When a user searches for something on Google and looks through the results and see that your page title and your description is wrong then they might not click on your link. This is why you need to make sure that they are all on point.
Every indexable page needs to be treated as a landing page. This means that you never stop optimizing and with every new SEO development you try to make them better and better to make sure that once you get to the top you stay there for as long as possible.
The main things you need are the titles, descriptions, USP and a call to action. If you have these then you are good to go.
Here are some examples of good USPs that helped the companies grow faster and get to be well-known.
- FedEx Corporation: “When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.”
- DeBeers: “A diamond is forever.”
- Target: "Expect More. Pay Less."
- Gillette: "The best a man can get"
- BMW: "The ultimate driving machine"
Other SEO strategies to rank higher
There is another strategy but this one is frowned upon. While it is at this moment not viewed as a violation by the Google Webmaster Guidelines, it is frowned upon. We’re referring to the use of special characters like emojis, hearts, checks, starts whatever they may be. These special characters can help attract a user’s attention to your snippets, but we don’t recommend it since it’s probably only a matter of time until it’s banned, and your efforts will be in vain.
There are other things that you should pay attention as well. You should have a clear and interesting website structure, good content, fast loading times and a focus on the users. If you have these and a USP then your visitors will most probably turn into customers and you’ll be making conversions and increasing your revenue.
Google keeps changing algorithms and the way it searches through websites to give users the best answers. This means that SEO is changing with it and so should our websites to give the people what they want.
So, if you change to suit the user’s needs and Google’s understanding of the user’s needs then you will always be on the first page of Google, getting more traffic and, ultimately, more conversions.
